- Maintain a safe distance from overhead electrical lines and other conductors:
- < 50 KV – 10 feet
- 50 – 199 KV- 15 feet
- 200 – 349 KV- 20 feet
- 350 – 499 KV- 25 feet
- 500 –749 KV – 35 feet
- 750 – 1000 KV – 45 feet
- Check to ensure that the ground surfaces are flat, dry, and free from slippery materials and obstructions.
- The working area is free from all overhead obstructions. If obstructions do exist, the operator must be made aware.
- Operators should wear a hard hat.
- A clear work zone should be set up around the lift to steer pedestrians and vehicles away.
- If operating outdoors, do not operate in inclement weather, including wind.
- Be aware that combustion engines should not be operated in an enclosed space. The work area must remain free from flammable or explosive vapors, dust, and fibers.
- Be sure to use the lift consistent only with the machine load ratings.
